122482Photo #122482Greenfield road is a narrow residential road which is used to rat run around the back of Harborne. It is used by cyclists who can only cycle in one direction (with cars chasing them down the road). Close the road at the junction with York Road. Make the closed Greenfield road 2 way for access and cyclists.Temporary closure:

122439Photo #122439Bottetourt Road would be a brilliant example of filtered permeability... Except for the fact that bikes can't get through (legally or easily). The existing railings makes cycling through very difficult and anyway cycling on the narrow pavement is illegal and not good for social distancing. Widen the footways remove the railings and install dropped kerbs in sensible places. Better still provide a 5m segregated cycle path with a bollard.Cycleway:

122247Photo #122247Augustus road is a busy rat run which is full of queuing traffic at rush hour. Cyclists are forced into the middle of the road. Create segregated cycle path on Augustus road by making Augustus Road one way (towards Birmingham) and turning the Bearwood bound carriageway into a 2 way segregated cycle track. This would provide a route parallel to the Hagley Road which could be delivered more quickly and with less disruption using bollards than along the Hagley Road.Cycleway:

122105Photo #122105There are no footpaths around Bartley Reservoir but lots of people running/ walking/ cycling around it for leisure mixing with fast moving traffic. 122062Photo #122062Major commuter route with no cycling provision. The new bus lane has narrowed the Harborne bound traffic lane making cycling unpleasant and dangerous. 121924Photo #121924Harborne road is 3 lanes wide for Motor traffic but there is no way for cyclists to head towards Harborne or Bearwood. Remove one lane and create a segregated cycle lane. 121906Photo #121906The existing a34 cycle route ends abruptly. Better provision needs to be made to connect it safely to the rest of the city centre rather than spitting you out at a major road junction with no clue of how to get anywhere in the city. Continue the blue tarmac across the island and along the roads to both saint chads and to corporation street.Cycleway:

121835Photo #121835This 2 lane up hill section of Harborne Road is lethal for cyclists who have to pull into the outside lane. Reduce to 1 lane and create a segregated cycle path - this is the only direct route from most of Harborne and this junction puts many off cycling.Cycleway:

121822Photo #121822Old Church road is used as a rat run. It has narrow pavements and tight bends. Close it to traffic at the junction with St Peter's Road. This would make a much safer route to St Peter's school and create a low traffic cycle route.Temporary closure:

121815Photo #121815Albert Road should be closed at the Junction with St Peter's Road. It is used as a rat run in the morning peak by drivers trying to avoid queues on War Lane and in the evening peak by drivers trying to avoid queues on the A4040. A low traffic Neighborhood would allow cyclists cycling up the Harborne Park Road dual carriageway to reach Lordswood Road safely when the dual carriageway ends via At Peter's Road and Albert Rd.Temporary closure:

121807Photo #121807Victoria Road is used as a rat run. Closing it to traffic at the junction with St Peter's Road would create a low traffic Neighborhood. 121804Photo #121804The bottom of park hill is already filtered permeability. A cycle path from the entrance to Cannon hill park to park hill would join the centre of Moseley up to both the NC5 route and with the planned priory road scheme, up to the a38 route. Currently the centre of Moseley is not joined up to these routes in any easy, low traffic or traffic free way.Cycleway:

121772Photo #121772The stretch from the River Cole to Golden Hillock Road (taking in the desperately frantic and manicly-driven stretch of dual on the A41) should have a segregated blue lane for cyclists. This is a massive weak spot needed to connect quieter routes from Acocks Green/Solihull through to the cycle route posted in Sparkbrook/Sparkhill. Currently the best ploy here is to use the pavement, it's a race track.Cycleway:

121633Photo #121633With pedestrian access required to the train station, nearby school, shops and nursery The pavement here needs to be much wider. 121632Photo #121632This is a blind bend on the crest of a hill with a junction. Many motorists speed along this road and close pass cyclists on the bend, on both sides of the road.
I’ve seen a number of near misses of motorists almost colliding with one another as they overtake me on my bike.

Some form of traffic calming or road narrowing would slow drivers and prevent unsafe overtaking. Ideally a Segregated cycle lane all along Kingsbury road but I acknowledge that’s unrealistic.
